I just love this idea!
Every mouth, Kate from Obsessive Consumption: What Did You Buy Today?, creates a new zine filled with drawings of crud that she has purchased that day. For instance, the January 2009 zine is filled with purchases ranging from a really expensive drawing chair, gocco supplies, a pencil sharpener and some yummy orange marmalade. Even the cover is given special consideration by paying homage to the plastic horse head earrings that she purchased and then broke on January 6th.
A delight for the art historian! I wonder, does she buy less as the recession looms larger (and longer)? Do her shopping habits correlate to the quality and depth of her drawings? Are these factors, in turn, influenced by the anxiety produced by living in a society divorced from the grummy concerns existing in this post-post-western-globalized-modern life? Must subscribe to find out! And to over-analyze!
